We are excited to announce two new additions to the firefighter division:
- Which firehouse has the fastest hustlers? See how you stack up against your fellow firefighters with our new Firefighter Division Awards. Personalized awards will be given to the Fastest Overall Firefighter and Fastest Firehouse. As in the past, each firefighter will receive a Hustle finisher medal.
- Climb with your Chicago-land brethren in our new Firefighter Division T-shirt! All registered climbers in the firefighter division will receive a 2013 Hustle up the Hancock shirt designed exclusively for firefighters. Shirts will be provided to your team captain for distribution prior to event day. As a reminder, on event day, only firefighter helmets and boots are allowed. No gear bags, tanks, hoses, masks allowed. No turn out gear.
Why do Firefighters climb?
Each year firefighters from
across the country join their Chicago-area
brethren at Hustle Up the Hancock to honor
the 343 fallen firefighters who gave their lives
in the 9/11 World Trade Center Disaster.
What time do I climb on event day? All
firefighters will climb together at a time to be
determined. For start time and event day information:
- If you are climbing with your
firehouse team on a separate firehouse team: See your
team captain for information and materials before the event.
- If you are NOT climbing with your
firehouse (but with Firefighters for New York): More information to follow soon.
What gear can I wear to climb? Only
firefighter helmets and boots are allowed. No
gear bags, tanks, hoses, masks allowed. No turn
out gear. All Firefighters will receive an event
t-shirt (see above) . We encourage you to wear it, or wear your
firehouse shirts.
